Shuts of Shrewsbury No 26 -
Victorian ArcadeMardol-Hill's LaneThis indoor passage was created in 1982 and was until about 5 years ago called the Victorian Arcade. The route is cobbled and has a “Victorian” feel to it. and there is even a fountain on the route. Firstly here is the Mardol entrance:

Originally there were three entrances to the passage - from Hill's Lane, Mardol and Dickens Court. The name has been changed to
The Village (this happened about 5 years ago) and the entrance at Dickens Court cannot be used by the public any more. Despite recent changes, it is still a pleasant way to get between Hill's Lane and Mardol, though remember it is technically a shop and is shut when not open. The shop is mainly a furniture and furnishings retailer. At the centre of the passage lies a small cafe (where the fountain is).
To reflect some historical aspects of the area, the main through passage is called Bugle Lane, after the street that existed near Rowley's House (it is now “under” the Bridge Street car park) and another route inside The Village is called Greendragon Lane, after the Greendragon/Green Dragon pub that once existed on Hill's Lane. Below is the Hill's Lane entrance:

Also connecting Hill's Lane with Mardol is
Carnarvon Lane. Opposite the Hill's Lane entrance is the Bridge Street Car Park and Rowley's House, which has its own short passage.
