No, Shrewsbury does not have a university - in fact there isn't one in Shropshire. The nearest universities are at Chester, Wolverhampton, Stafford, Keele (near the town of Newcastle-upon-Lyme), Birmingham and Aberystwith (which is on the Welsh coast).
