I often watch prime ministers question time on tv and would like to know why some people stand up and sit down again after someone has spoken, have looked on Google but have found nothing.
They stand to indicate to the Speaker that they want to ask a question. When he calls a person's name, the others must sit down until it is time for the next question.
But if they only put their hand up, that means they need to be excused so they can go to the loo! :D
I think it should be like at school, they should have to keep thrusting their arm up, clicking their fingers and shouting: "Sir! Sir! I know this one! Sir!"
