Britpop heroes Shed Seven and indie newcomers The Holloways are to play as part of the Shrewsbury College Arts and Skills Festival in the Quarry this summer.
Shed Seven were among the leaders of the Britpop revolution of the 90 and have had 15 top 40 singles and four top 20 albums. They rarely play live and booking them to head the Quarry concert is a real coup for Shrewsbury College. The Holloways released their critically acclaimed first album in 2007 and toured the UK to sell-out shows.
The concert is part of a five-day festival of music, fashion, drama, skills and technology – much of it free – which will be a major highlight of the summer in Shrewsbury.
Shrewsbury College is taking over a large part of the Quarry from June 28 to July 2 for the Arts and Skills Festival to showcase its students’ skills and achievements, and its contributions to the town and county.
The concert is on Thursday July 1 and with Shed Seven headlining and The Holloways in support - a fantastic show for the people of Shrewsbury and Shropshire.
Tickets will be available from May 3 at £15. Call the college on 01743 342699.
A large marquee will host the Shed Seven concert and other events, including two fashion shows, a Shakespearian play and a VIP banquet prepared by Hospitality and Catering students. A second marquee will host awards ceremonies including the College’s annual Higher Education awards reception, plus demonstrations and workshops.
