Title: Flooding

Geoffum2 - March 18, 2010 12:04 PM (GMT)
When was the last time there was any flooding in the Abbey Foregate area of town? I can remember the major floods of 10 years or so ago but has there been any more recently, especially around the Telepost and Portobello areas?

Can't think of any since they put the defence systems up there! They have also altered the drainage at Abbey Foregate as the river used to come up through the drains first in a flood.

I don't think it's flooded there recently, but I am still Googling so I may find something different.

There's this photo of Gay Meadow in Feb 04 on the BBC website

Proud Salopian has already linked to this gallery of photos of 2000, which I think are incredible

My mum in law still talks about her walk across the boards in Coleham!
She would not take the council bloke's hand that he offered her and she very nearly fell in.

I've got a few pictures taken at he end of the bridge where the Guildhall was going to be built and my children look so young!

Hopefully it will not happen again, with the new defence system.
