Title: It Snow Joke..

Why do people ,young and old ,insist on walking on the roads in snowy weather. One day a car will skid out of control and kill them! now if they were on the pavement there is a reasonable chance the car would rebound off the kerb and nobody would get killed, just a thought..

It's less slippery on the roads than on the pavement.

Perhaps the question should be. Why cant Shropshire county council grit pavements as well as roads? This 'shortage' of grit claim is a feeble excuse they are using currently. There is plenty of salt in Cheshire. It's bad management at the end of the day!

Why? Because it beats falling off the mountain of ice on the pavement and landing in the road! :D

Even worse are those pedestrians who are walking on the road when it's night and wearing dark clothing - think they either have a death wish or are just stupid.
Saw somebody nearly get hit the other night, it's only that the car swerved at the last minute they didn't.

i agree i get annoyed when people are on the road as it is harder to stop in a car than walking so they should get off the road when they see a car.
stupid really!

I think we should invade Cheshire and nick their salt.

It;'s not the bruising that people are concerned about. It's slipping on the ice, falling backwards and having their head stoved in by it hitting the pavement. And there have been several examples of this in the last week.

Most councils never bother to clean pavements of ice.

This is the first place I have lived where the city actually plows most of the sidewalks. However, these are still ice covered and very treacherous. At the present, we have our main streets plowed and there are three-foot high drifts piled between the road and sidewalk. So, if you dare to walk, you can walk facing traffic on the side of the road and hope someone doesn't slide into you. Or, walk gingerly on the sidewalk and try to stay upright.
