Title: Joke Weather Forecast!

trickytrees - December 30, 2009 04:25 PM (GMT)
All I heard on Radio(Panic)Shropshire was heavy snow due on 29th Dec at mid day, well I kept looking out of the window, gave up after 9 hrs! Yes I know some places had snow, but most of Shropshire had none, its not the first time they have got it all wrong, Im sure a fir cone & a piece of sea weed could do a better job, mind you they do love to be dramatic!

It was a bit over-dramatic, but down in South Shropshire a fair amount of snow did fall in a short period on 29 December.

The minor roads had been icy since before Christmas, so an extra coating of snow was not helping matters.

Above Clun, around 3pm on 29 Dec. By that time, snow had been falling for about an hour - there had been very little snow lying in the morning.

Radio Shropshire were not to blame. It was the Met Office Severe Weather Warning. They got it horribly wrong. At least as far as Telford and Wrekin and most of Shropshire were concerned.

Yet just over the border in Mid Wales, 8 inches of snow.

I haven't seen the grass since Dec 5!

That's true of the winters in the much of North America, isn't it?

It depends. I moved from the desert where it could hit 45 C. After 12 years there, I didn't mind seeing some snow. Thank God for my snow blower, it came with the house we bought. I love that thing!
