Refering to a story in The Shropshire Star about a particularly brainless young man receiving a fine for dropping litter, well done that magistrate! Story Here Perhaps more cosistancy to fining everyone who purposely foul our public places will stop these idiots once and for all. It would have been nicer I feel if the magistrate had subjected this youth to a community service order to pick up litter for a month or so. Let the punishment fit the crime magistrates please!

Now perhaps we can concentrate on serious crime and punishment through the court system? :P

I agree that picking up trash would have been good punishment instead of or in addition to the fine. Not that I am a globetrotter, but the UK is one of the cleanest places I have visited.

Hi Mark. Long time no see on here at least! Magistrates on this case I feel need to wake up a bit. Money these days seems immaterial as a fine especially for kids are not yet independant as is in this case. What an opportunity missed, if they had given this person a community service order it would have set an example for other kids. Instead they just fine him.

Yes! It is about time people were made to face up to the consequencies of their actions.
