Heavy Snow & Widespread Icy Roads 04:48 Sat 7th
Heavy snow showers across Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin, will lead to significant accumulations of snow at times, with 2 to 5 cm accumulating in places.

This snow will fall onto already frozen surfaces, leading to widespread ice on many untreated roads. The public are advised to extra care and refer to the 'Highways Agency' for traffic conditions on motorways and trunk roads

Heavy Snow Sun 8 Feb
There is a moderate risk of a severe weather event affecting parts of central and northern England, and northeast Wales on Sunday.

There is a potential for around 5cm in places as a band of snow moves eastwards.

I have been working in Oswestry the last few days and it's amazing the difference in levels of snow in comparison to Whitchurch and Shrewsbury.

In Whitchurch last week we had 7cm blocking some rural roads. This morning Oswestry had a considerably more snow than of late and travelling through Shrewsbury to Whitchurch there was hardly any. Very difficult to predict I'd say where it falls.

Yes its really been very localised, on Thursday Oswestry has a lighter coating yet St. Martins had it slightly more.

My brother lives in Whixall where they had quite a bit but down the road in Wem not so much.

I guess we are lucky in a way that we have missed most of it here in central and North Shropshire I know Telford has it bad and the South of Shropshire.

On Thursday morning we had just over 39,000 hits on the school closure page of Telford FM not bad going.

Thankfully the server held out :)

As I mentioned on another thread, we were in Maine on a house hunting trip for a week. It snowed three days, and when we arrived they already had two feet on the ground. We left Bangor, Maine one morning where it was -7 and arrived in Dallas later in the day where it was 70!
