Title: Pictures Of The Town - Past And Present
Description: where ?

dunkle - January 8, 2009 12:56 PM (GMT)
Firstly, hello, sorry that my first post is one thats after something rather than more contrabutive. Hope that will follow

Anyway, I am after quality photos of the town (colour and b&w) that would be suitable for framing and wall hanging. Have some postcards (which I got off ebay) but after things a4 and above for the wall

Anyone know where they could be purchased ? or anyone with high res photos which could be printed ?

Thanks

You can get photos from the shropshire star or shropshire life magazine.

How do you go about buying them ? and what size are they ?

I want some like those in the Shrewsbury Hotel (Weatherspoons) - not sure if still have thme hung on wall

Ideally I would also like a nice BIG picture as well, possibly an aerial one, at least a3 but possibly bigger

Some of those are exactly what I am after
Seems from the second link I can just print directly but what about those of the first ? does the local Museum sell the prints (is it still open ?)

Good to hear we are on the right lines, for getting copies I can only think maybe try Shropshire Archives and see what they say.

They sold me a larger copy of a photo taken of a VE day party that was printed in the shropshire magazine. It was a nice quality photo too.

The Star archives are pretty extensive.
