I see this is back in planning. :(
With the opening of the new theatre surely an Art Gallery and improved 6th form college is what we should be aiming at in the town centre?
The proposal of a mass of pretend period houses, emulating the mediaeval Romaldston surrounding Rowley's House is utterly depressing.
We need to attract visitors to Shrewsbury so culture and vitality are the carrots not poky little houses that the older market they are aimed at will not want to buy because of the dance clubs and nightlife etc.
Do the council honestly think that shopping alone attracts visitors?
Oh hang on, the Abbey Railway Heritage Museum will attracts 1000s, after all you don't want to bother with Bridgnorth, Llanfair, Telford, Llangollen or Tysley despite them actually having real steam trains to look at too!
Ironic really connecting this new facility with the wildlife centre, one promoting our natural environment the other sentimentalising fifthy, polluting, engines that desecrated miles of countryside in their heyday. (actually I do enjoy seeing a steam train occasionally but not pouring over memorablia till the cows come home!)
