Hi everyone,
I am an exiled Salopian living in Coventry (for my sins!) and recently saw a T-shirt on sale here that said something along the lines of "you know you're a Cov-kid when...." with about a dozen sayings afterwards to test whether you really were or not
examples...
"It's obvious to you that the sports centre is shaped like an elephant"
"You can pronounce Cheylesmore and Styvechale"
"You passed your driving test mainly because you didn't go on the ringroad"
"You still arrange to meet people outside Owen Owens"
"The cinema you went to as a child became a university"
"You've had your picture in the Evening Telegraph at least once"
It was a good test because my wife who is Coventry born and bred could answer yes to all of them, whereas I, as a Shropshire lad, didn't even understand the relevance of some of the questions!
So my question to all you Shropshire folk out there, is what would the best sayings be for a similar thing related to Shrewsbury or Shropshire?
You know you're a Salopian when....
(answers on a postcard or sealed stamp addressed envelope.)
