I am trying to establish a wildlife pond in my garden. I have a fair selection of animal life but would like to complete the balance with some minnows or sticklebacks. When I was a boy, just about every piece of water would contain these little fish but despite searching all ponds and lakes in the Telford/ Wellington area, I have not seen one.
Can anyone tip me off where I might find some? I only want a dozen or so.

I too was looking to get some of these for my wildlfe pool,but to no avail,instead i have dozens of frogs,all good stuff.

Yes,avronb, I have frogs, toads and newts by the bucketload. I wonder if it is the preponderance (pun not intended) of these animals that has led to the demise of the fish.
